Why does Ymir Fritz look like a child in the coordinate?

It appears that holders of the Founding Titan assume the age at which they originally inherited the power once they enter the Paths….or perhaps this is exclusive to Eren and Ymir since they made contact with the power of the Titans in its purest form, that nameless worm.

But I think their childish appearances more so reveals something about their respective characters. Up until chapter 122, Ymir has been portrayed by both Eldians and Marleyans as this mythic figure, either

A goddess:

Or a pawn of the Devil:

depending on which sources you abide by. But in both, Ymir is depicted as this powerful, legendary figure whose mark on history is clearly felt today by the death and carnage wreaked upon the world by the Power of the Titans and through her numerous descendants, the Subjects of Ymir.

However, it was revealed that Ymir had merely been a slave girl with no real will of her own.

The only initiative she took in her short, miserable life was to free those pigs. And even after gaining such God-like power, her life didn’t change much, if at all.

She was still that slave girl, the one who was used as fodder for those men. Only now she was another sort of plaything for one man.

And Eren, for all that’s he’s grown over a span of four seasons and 130+ chapters, is still a child on the inside who is disappointed that what lay beyond the Walks didn’t match his ideals, didn’t match what had been in Armin’s book:

And I think that child persona is a way for him to disassociate from the carnage is he unleashing upon the world:

He has regressed to his ideal, child self because he doesn’t want to face the horrors of what he is doing, so much so that he forgets himself:

And this disassociation might also touch upon why Ymir and Eren’s eyes were shaded in that confrontation they had with the Survey Corps in chapter 133.

Despite all his talk of being free, Eren isn’t truly free but is locked onto a path of destruction. He is as much a slave to his fate as Ymir once was. Perhaps that is why he is allowing his friends to be free, so that they would be able to grant him his own.

As for Ymir, I think it was hinted in chapter 137 that the Rumbling alone doesn’t encapsulate what she truly desires.

Eren may have freed her from the royal family’s hold but perhaps she has yet to achieve true freedom. Perhaps she can only be truly free when she can finally leave the Paths behind once and for all. Perhaps we will see her eyes again once she is reborn.
